Listing of Recent - Terrific New Social Marketing & Search Usability Books

My top pick of recent books that I've read or are in the middle of reading which are impactful to today's marketing technologies:
1.  The New Rules of Marketing & PR by David Meerman Scott.  This amazing book show you how to leverage the potential that Web-based communications offers large and small companies, nonprofits, entrepreneurs, political organizations, consultants, even rock bands.  Finally, you can speak directly to customers and buyers, establishing a personnel link with those who make your business work.  You can reach niche buyers with targeted messages that cost a fraction of your big-budged advertising campaigns.  Rather than bombard them with advertising they'll likely ignore, you can focus on getting the right message to the right people at the right time.   Terrific read and great sites to use to implement.  Highly recommend.  Connect to the author on Twitter and through his blog - Web Ink.

2.  When Search Meets Web Usability by Shari Turuow and Nick Musica.    This was just published April, 2009 by Shari Thurow and Nick Musica.    This indepth, but easy to read book states that the user experience is a fluid event that frequently starts on Google and, if you are lucky, ends with a sale on your site.  Creating a satisfying user experience is the key to maximizing search effectiveness and getting conversions.   This book will also help you improve your visitors' experience once they get to your site.  By understanding the wide variety of strategies and sometime surprising behaviors that users employ when seeking information on the web, information architects, web designers and developers, SEOs and SEMs, and usability professionals can build better interfaces and functionality into their sites.   Many examples on how to truly execute the findings within your own Website to maximize the user's experience.  I personally know Nick Musica and was thrilled he thanked me in the forward of the book.

3.  How to Wow by Frances Cole Jones.  "I'm Wehringer, Tracy Wehringer (instead of "Bond, James Bond" as an example to make yourself stand out)   He brings proven strategies for selling your brand (self) into any situation.   I'm just starting to read this and so far it has pretty interesting strategies.

4.  Another David Meerman Scott book, World Wide Rave.   World Wide Rave is when people around the world are talking about you, your company, and your products. Whether you’re located in San Francisco, Dubai, or Reykjavík, it’s when global communities eagerly link to your stuff on the Web. It’s when online buzz drives buyers to your virtual doorstep. And it’s when tons of fans visit your Web site and your blog because they genuinely want to be there.  He includes links, recommended sites and methods to bring into your overall marketing.
